Elie Saab Autumn/Winter 2011-12

WHATEVER Elie Saab's woman is up to next season, she's going to look chic, refined and ladylike in the process. The third to last show on the last day of Paris Fashion Week belonged to the Lebanese designer whose penchant for red carpet dresses was kept relatively restrained today. It was a show that, fittingly, seemed to tick a good handful of trend boxes we've been accustomed to seeing over the last four weeks.

So, we had fur in there (on shoulders and lapels of neat black daywear ensembles), and we had red (on slit-to-the-thigh dresses and belted svelte dresses beaded and draped, twisted and pleated), and a mix-and-match of textures – which we saw at every fashion capital and at almost every show. When it wasn't red, it was burgundy – again tapping into the season's trends for boozy shades – and when it wasn't neat and polished for going to work, it was glamorous and polished for a twirl down that red carpet.

We had the usual suspects in gowns of silver sequin beads and others in cascades of berry shades – they came strapless and with a shimmer over the hip, something which was repeated in a much less dramatic way on the pencil skirts we had seen earlier in the collection.

Here Come The Angels

US lingerie giant Victoria's Secret has confirmed that it will open its first UK store in 2012. The shop will be located on the "prestigious corner of New Bond Street and Brook Street," says the lingerie company's owner Limited Brands. It joins other US import Abercrombie & Fitch, which is situated just a few streets away and has seen immense popularity since it opened in 2007.

The brand, famous for its annual fashion show and team of Angels which currently includes Rosie Huntington-WhiteleY and Miranda Kerr, had previously been looking at locations on nearby Regent Street, but decided on the 16,500 sq ft New Bond Street store thanks to its size.

Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the launch of their men’s-wear line, fashion titans Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana hosted a most stylish party and exhibition in Milan’s city hall, Palazzo Marino, on Saturday. Outside, in the beautiful Piazza della Scala, four massive multi-media cubes featured slide shows of the men’s-wear line and the city, as well as a sneak-peek video of an exhibition in the Palazzo about Dolce & Gabbana’s history and plans for the future.

Chanel On Film Again

HOT off the back of Audrey Tautou, Anna Mouglalis is the next French actress to have played Coco Chanel in the latest biopic Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky. The film focuses on a more melancholic part of the designers life including her tragic love affair with composer Igor Stravinsky. Mouglalis, however, has controversially described the legendary couturier as a misogynist.

Model Mum

GISELE may have only given birth six months ago but you certainly wouldn't know it as she returned to the catwalk yesterday. The model paraded in her native Brazil as a part of Sao Paulo Fashion Week.

"I was very nervous," Bundchen said, according to the website of the Brazilian newspaper Estado de Sao Paulo. "But I am very happy, everything went right."

The 29-year-old model walked the catwalk for clothing label Colcci. Gisele has modelled for the brand before, having featured in its campaign in April. The model, who is reported to be the best paid in the world, is a regular at the Brazilian event although missed one in January after giving birth to her son Benjamin in December last year.
